Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of a nasty bug in Secure connections (SSL) called Heartbleed. This is no laughing matter and today we wish to reassure our users that their files and copyrights are safe with Myows.

Right off the bat, let us state that Myows uses OpenSSL, the open-source protocol that allows secure connections between your computer and our servers. OpenSSL is also used by many others apps you use daily, such as Gmail or Facebook.

As soon as word of Heartbleed came out, we upgraded our code with a patch on our servers, and have now upgraded our SSL certificates.

Without getting too technical, we don’t store any unencrypted passwords, so user accounts should be safe, but as many other sites are recommending, users should change their passwords on myows.com anyway as a security precaution.
